Los Gatos Woman Killed In Highway 17 Crash

The crash occurred at around 9:15 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — A 27-year-old Los Gatos woman was killed over the weekend in a fiery freeway crash, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred at around 9:15 a.m. Saturday on Highway 17 north of Idylwild Road, according to the CHP.

Investigators believe the woman was driving a Toyota westbound on Idylwild and attempting to make a left turn into the southbound lanes of the freeway when she drove into the path of a Ford Mustang while crossing the northbound lanes, the CHP said.

The driver of the Toyota suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead after she was transferred to Valley Medical Center at around 12:15 a.m. Sunday, according to the CHP.

The driver of the Ford remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to the CHP.

Alcohol and/or drugs, are not believed to be a factor in this crash, and the occupants in both vehicles were properly restrained, the CHP said.

This crash is still under investigation.
