Man Arrested After Threatening Los Gatos Restaurant Employee With Knife

Unclear why suspect was booted out of downtown eating establishment.

A 44-year-old man was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Jail the evening of Friday, Oct. 4 after police say he became angry and threatened a downtown Los Gatos restaurant employee with a steak knife.

According to the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno police report, the suspect was asked to leave the North Santa Cruz Avenue establishment at 10:42 p.m., which caused him to become upset.

It's unclear from the report why the man was booted out of the restaurant, but police say its operators requested he be prosecuted.

The man could face aggravated assault charges, which according to the California penal code is punishable by imprisonment in state prison for two, three, or four years, or in the county jail for not exceeding one year, or by a fine not exceeding $10,000, or by both the fine and imprisonment.
