Man Crashes Into Police Car On San Jose Horse Farm

When police approached a man sitting outside a San Jose horse stable, he bolted, crashed through a locked gate, and onto the property.

SAN JOSE - A suspect who crashed through a gate onto a horse stable property in San Jose Wednesday morning injured a police officer in an ensuing chase.

At 6:56 a.m., a San Jose officer observed a suspect sitting in a vehicle outside the entrance to horse stables at 2525 Kenoga Drive, according to police.

As the officer approached, the driver drove through the locked front gate onto the property. The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, drove recklessly onto the grounds and hit a pole.

Another officer arrived and tried to make contact with the suspect, but the man accelerated his vehicle into reverse gear and hit a marked patrol car, police said.

The suspect remained in the car, acting bizarrely and ignored commands to get out.

Officers were eventually able to subdue the man and took him into custody.

The officer struck by the suspect's car during the confrontation was taken to a hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Police planned to book the suspect into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of assault on a peace officer, trespassing, and vandalism.
