Manresa To Reopen Los Gatos Eatery Post Fire; Opening Aptos 2019

LOS GATOS, CA -- Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, Manresa is cultivating excitement over quality cuisine with the culinary company's multiple construction plans in a cluster of cities in the South Bay -- reopening Wednesday the renowned Los Gatos restaurant closed from a fire this summer, opening a new Italian eatery in Aptos Village and launching the Campbell café in fall.

This makes Chef David Kinch and head baker Avery Ruzicka and their staffs hot commodities, who are "quite busy" to hear their spokeswoman Andrea Jackson Ott tell it. Kinch is from Santa Cruz, so an Aptos location is a likely fit. The coastal version of the growing empire will be called Mentone, which is due to throw open its doors off Soquel Drive in the early part of next year.

More pressing to foodies in Los Gatos though -- this area restaurant will reopen with maybe half the same menu. Time breeds ambition. With that, Chef Kinch and his creative minds have been able to concoct a slew of seasonal delights that includes a new version of his signature dish spotlighting quite literally a Vegetable Garden.

"It's hard to imagine going through a fire at Manresa, not once, but twice in a four-year span," Kinch said, while referencing the restaurant's six-month closure in 2014 as well. This summer's July fire was set ablaze by combustible rags. It helped that Kinch's crew stayed positive and knew the drill of how to regroup and rebuild.

General Manager Jenny Yun commended the staff for overcoming adversity and elevating the expectations to ultimately "enhance the Manresa guest experience."

A member of the Relais & Chateaux family, Manresa Los Gatos is located at 320 Village Lane in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
