ME Seeks Help ID'ing Woman Who Died On I-880 In San Jose

Forensic efforts to identify a woman hit and killed on the freeway last month have come up empty, and officials hope someone may know her.

SAN JOSE, CA — The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office is turning to the public to help identify a woman who has hit and killed on Interstate 880 last month. According to the county, a vehicle struck the woman in the northbound lanes near Stevens Creek Boulevard in San Jose on May 14. The case remains under investigation.

The ME's office released a sketch of the woman and a brief description on Wednesday:

"She is a white female who appears to be between the ages of 40 to 50," officials said in a news release. "She is approximately 61 inches tall and 110 pounds. She has medium-length gray and red hair, brown eyes, and natural teeth. She has no obvious tattoos. It is unknown if she is unhoused or transient."

The medical examiner said forensic methods to identify the woman have proven fruitless so far, so they enlisted a forensic artist to create a sketch in hopes someone may recognize her.
