Mudslide Blocks Highway 9 Near Saratoga
Debris from a mudslide blocked a stretch of Highway 9 on Monday as wet weather snarled commutes around the region.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — A blast of wet and stormy weather complicated morning commutes across the Bay Area on Monday, including a mudslide that fully blocked State Route 9 west of Saratoga.
Caltrans reported the slide shortly before 7:45 a.m. Monday, requiring a full closure of the highway between Redwood Gulch Road and Sanborn Road. Later in the morning, Caltrans officials shared two photos of the slide scene showing debris across the roadway.

An estimate for reopening the highway was not immediately available, and drivers were asked to use alternate routes until further notice.
