New Alfresco Restaurants Tout Outdoor Summer Eats In The South Bay

The summer solstice is near, and the Bay Area has a few more choices for outdoor dining as the days get warmer and longer.

SAN JOSE, CA — With summery days already on deck and plenty of sunshine ahead for the Bay Area in the coming weeks and months, several new arrivals on the dining scene are tailor-made for dining outdoors.

This week, the East Bay Times highlighted nine of the region's newest alfresco destinations, including two South Bay restaurants with bountiful patio space.

In San Jose, the East Bay Times spotlighted celebrity chef Joanne Weir's Copita. The restaurant opened its doors in October, but with the changing of the season, diners are getting a chance to bask in the sun on the rooftop. The outdoor space has room for 40 under the shade, plus 30 lounge seats and another 30 at the bar. According to the newspaper, the rooftop fare focuses on small plates, including a Baja-style Cod and Shrimp Agurachile.

In Palo Alto, the newspaper celebrated Sushi Roku, a high-end sushi joint that recently opened its first NorCal outpost at the Stanford Shopping Center. Reviewers shouted out a dog-friendly, shaded patio and a menu sure to please vegetarians, pescatarians and carnivores alike.
