New Los Gatos Mayor Rob Rennie Calls For Civility
Rennie takes over the mayoral role from Marico Sayoc, who presided over a tense year of council meetings.

LOS GATOS, CA — Rob Rennie was appointed the new mayor of Los Gatos during a special town council meeting Tuesday night.
Rennie was elected to the council in 2014 and served as mayor four years ago. He served as vice mayor in 2021.
Rennie was also considering a run for the open county Board of Supervisors seat that will be vacated by Supervisor Mike Wasserman in 2022, but he was drawn out of the District 1 area in the new county redistricting map.

Wasserman administered the oath to both Rennie and Ristow.
Rennie takes over the mayoral role from Marico Sayoc, who presided over a tense year of council meetings that saw several volatile public comment sessions leading to the council chambers having to be cleared multiple times.
“One work item that needs no prioritizing is getting our political discourse back on track to being civil,” Rennie said in his remarks Tuesday night. “I’d like to see us get back to being able to express our thoughts and opinions by sticking to issues and away from personal attacks. I hope everyone will stay engaged and help guide the council and I through the coming year’s challenges.”
