Public Helps Santa Clara Police Identify Pedestrian Killed In Crash

Community members helped the medical examiner's office identify the victim in a deadly collision early Sunday morning.

SANTA CLARA, CA — A pedestrian who died in a traffic collision early Sunday morning in Santa Clara was identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner Wednesday, police said.

Santa Clara police asked for the public's help identifying the victim, who was struck at about 1:27 a.m. as they crossed westbound Monroe Street at Lawrence Expressway, according to police.

An investigation determined the pedestrian crossed in the crosswalk against a red traffic signal, police said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver stopped and was cooperative with officers. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.

The victim's identity will be publicly released after their next of kin are told.
