Radio Man Bob Kieve to Receive Los Gatos' 'Peter S. Carter Legacy Award'
Community leader will be first recipient of honor recognizing the contributions of the late 'Mr. Los Gatos,' who died March 6, 2013.

Radio station owner and community leader Bob Kieve will receive the Peter S. Carter Legacy Award at the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce Legends & Leaders event Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Fairmont Hotel San Jose.
In honor of the late Los Gatos resident Peter S. Carter, ChamberPAC—the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber Political Action Committee—and the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber, with the support of Dennise Carter and family, created the legacy award.
The honor recognizes a deserving person who best reflects the late "Mr. Los Gatos" engagement and leadership in building a better community through civic service and political action that supports sound business principles and economic development.
Kieve, president of Empire Broadcasting, which operates radio stations KLIV and KRTY, has spent more than 45 years in the Silicon Valley and has been active in many community organizations as well as political advocacy efforts.
He has been a chair of the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber, ChamberPAC and has provided radio promotion for many nonprofits and has himself over the years gone on air to advocate for businesses, according to San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce officials.
Kieve has also provided financial support over the years for many nonprofits including Rotary, the Boy Scouts and the chamber of commerce, officials said.
During the Eisenhower Administration, Kieve was a writer on the President’s White House staff.
Kieve is a graduate of Harvard College.
"We are delighted to honor Bob Kieve with the first Peter S. Carter Legacy Award," said ChamberPAC Chair Suzanne Salata of Garden City Construction. "Bob well represents Peter Carter's respect for political opinions, knowledge and
his utmost concern of promoting a strong and stable local economy that is jobs-producing to provide opportunity for all in our community."
Carter, who died March 6, 2013, had a long career as an advertising executive in the Silicon Valley and was a founding shareholder of the original Los Gatos Weekly and the Metro publishing group.
Carter later established himself as an architectural and social photographer. He also co-founded the Los Gatos Social Club and was a member of the SJSV Chamber and ChamberPAC for more than two decades.
