San Jose Officer Shot While Responding To Call, Suspect Arrested
Police said officers immediately began taking gunfire when they arrived at the scene of a family disturbance call Wednesday morning.
SAN JOSE, CA — A officer was shot in San Jose Wednesday morning while responding to a family disturbance call, according to police. The San Jose Police Department confirmed the shooting on social media just before 9:45 a.m.
Police said the initial call came in a few minutes before 8 a.m. from the area of Auzerais Avenue and Race Street. As officers arrived at the residence and made contact, police said they immediately began taking fire.
A female officer was struck by the gunfire and was rushed to a local hospital in undisclosed condition. Police said the scene remained active at 10 a.m. and asked residents to avoid the area.

The police department scheduled a news conference near the scene to share more details. San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan shared a statement on social media just after 11 a.m.

Police said the suspect in the incident was taken into custody shortly after 1 p.m. but said officers would be on the scene for "quite some time," asking people to continue avoiding the area. The department said more information would be available at a later time.
