SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — The bookmobile lead for the Santa Clara County Library District received an excellence award for her dedication and commitment to the bookmobile profession.
Amytha Willard, the supervising librarian for bookmobile services, received the first 2021 ABOS Karen Hake Outstanding Bookmobile Librarian honor. Willard has spent 16 years working for the library district’s bookmobile program, which currently has over two vehicles that make over 100 stops a month all over Santa Clara County.
During the pandemic, Willard helped implement a program called BookDash that delivered books to patron’s front doors to meet the needs of the older adult community.

“Amytha is very well known and appreciated across the Library District by her patrons, partners, and colleagues,” County Librarian Jennifer Weeks said. “This award highlights her and the Bookmobile team’s constant, creative efforts to bring the library and all that SCCLD has to offer out to those who face physical and geographic barriers.”
Willard will receive the award during a virtual ceremony on Oct. 12 at the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services conference.
