Saturday Night Car Crash Victims Los Gatos Residents

A two-vehicle collision in the area of Camden Avenue and Hicks Road in San Jose around 9:30 p.m. Saturday killed a husband and wife.

SAN JOSE - Two people who died in a car collision Saturday night in south San Jose have been identified as Los Gatos residents Christopher Durbin, 59, and Sandra Morse, 57, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.

Durbin was married to Morse and was a freelance keyboardist in the Bay Area, where he has played at well-known music venues including Yoshi’s in Oakland and Starlight Room in San Francisco, according to his website.

Officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision in the area of Camden Avenue and Hicks Road around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Responding officers found two cars that had sustained major damage on the roadway, according to police.

A woman, later identified as Morse, was pronounced dead at the scene. A man, later determined to be Durbin, was transported to a hospital where he died, according to police.

The crash marks the eighth and ninth traffic-related deaths on San Jose streets this year, police said.

Police have not released any other details on the circumstances surrounding the collision. Morse also offered classical and jazz piano lessons since 1988 at his home studio, where he also produced his own compositions, according to his website.

He has performed with rhythm and blues bands and jazz groups, his resume states.

“I feel fortunate to be involved in music. I wish everyone many moments of joy through their own creative pursuits,” a post on Durbin’s website says.
