SJ Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested In Santa Clara: Police
Investigators in San Jose allege a man suspected in two armed robberies last month was in custody for a burglary case in Santa Clara.
SAN JOSE, CA — A man wanted in connection with a pair of armed robberies in San Jose faces new charges after police discovered evidence linking him to the crimes, investigators allege.
Officers responded to the first armed robbery Jan. 18 on Leigh Avenue and fielded a second report the next day from an address on West San Carlos Street. Robbery detectives followed up on both cases and determined the suspect's vehicle was linked to a burglary investigated in Santa Clara a few days later, police said.
Detectives learned the suspect had already been arrested in the Santa Clara case and obtained a search warrant for the man's vehicle. Police said the search revealed evidence linking the man to the San Jose robberies, including clothing he was seen wearing on surveillance cameras. Santa Clara County prosecutors filed new charges alleging robbery with gun enhancements.
