Small Earthquake Hits Santa Cruz Mountains

A quake struck Tuesday morning near Lexington Hills, the US Geological Society reports.

LOS GATOS, CA — A 2.7 magnitude earthquake struck Tuesday morning in the Santa Cruz mountains, just south of Los Gatos, the United States Geological Survey reports.

The quake took place about 2.7 to 5 kilometers south southwest of Lexington Hills, and was reported at 8:51 a.m. Tuesday. Residents as far as 22 kilometers away told USGS that they could feel the quake.

No other information was immediately available.
