Steph Curry Backs Los Gatos Venture: Report

The two-time MVP and three-time NBA champion is among the leading investors in San Francisco-based Local Kitchens.

LOS GATOS, CA — NBA star Stephen Curry is involved in the funding behind a new Los Gatos restaurant venture, Eater SF reports.

The two-time MVP and three-time NBA champion is among the leading investors in Penny Jar Capital, a venture firm that’s backing a Bay Area “ghost kitchen” concept venture.

Local Kitchens, which currently operates six Bay Area locations, plans to open the South Bay location in June.

The Los Gatos location at 681 Blossom Hill Rd. will be among five new locations the San Francisco-based company expects to open by the end of this year, the report said.

Local Kitchens operates ghost kitchen concept locations that allow customers to order food for pickup or delivery from multiple restaurants that operate out of the same location.

And unlike other models, Local Kitchen staff are trained by the restaurants whose dishes they serve.

The company was founded by former DoorDash employees Jon Goldsmith and Andrew Munday, who serve as Local Kitchens’ CEO and COO.

“One of our goals has been to bring the best food from the cities to the suburbs,” Munday toldThe North Bay Business Journal.
