SAN JOSE, CA — Investigators in San Jose have arrested an 18-year-old accused of using a 3D printer to manufacture illegal guns to sell, the police department announced Tuesday.

Members of the Gun and Hazardous Offender Suppression Team (GHOST) began their investigation in January after receiving a tip about someone making and selling "ghost guns" in San Jose, authorities said.

Detectives developed a suspect in the case and collaborated with the district attorney's office to secure a search warrant. The gang investigation unit helped serve the warrant Thursday, and detectives said a search of the home revealed two guns, "precursor materials" for firearm manufacturing and a 3D printer.
