Should this be a 55 mph zone?
A speed limit sign on Highway 17 south of Lark Avenue and Highway 9 in Los Gatos, almost hard to see if you're driving fast due to plant growth, is creating controversy with at least one person being ticketed by the California Highway Patrol for going over the speed limit.
The Los Gatos-Weekly Times reported in its July 9 edition that the driver, identified as Robert Von Merta of San Jose, thought he was driving on a 65 mph zone.
The 55 mph on California highways was increased to 65 mph in 1995, however there are still sections of county highways with speeds ranging from 50 to 65 mph.
What do you think? Should this section of the busy highway be changed to 65 mph?
