Authorities Bust $10 Million Marijuana Grow

A multi-agency raid uncovered a $10 million marijuana grow operation Thursday in Topanga State Park, but no arrests were made.

Eight California State Park peace officers, four National Park Service rangers, two Mountain Recreation and Conservation Authority rangers, six LA County Sheriff's Department deputies and a helicopter were involved in the operation, according to Clark Blanchard of California State Parks.

The officers found 2,101 marijuana plants weighing about 850 pounds on six  plots, Blanchard said.

A camp with three separate sleeping quarters, empty boxes of 9mm ammunition and .357 ammunition were also found, he said.

More than 1,000 pounds of trash was removed including six car batteries, several propane tanks, fertilizers, pesticides, tubing and five empty gallon buckets of a rodenticide called "Ramik Green," a commercial grade rat poison, according to Blanchard.

"This marijuana growing operation was located in the same general area a grow we eradicated in June, 2012 containing 34,000 marijuana plants, and a grow we eradicated in March containing 8,000 marijuana plants," Blanchard said.
