Back to Drawing Board for Malibu Skate Park Project

The Malibu City Council voted on Monday to reject all proposals for the design of the future Malibu Bluffs Park Skate Park Project and gather more input from the community.

The Malibu City Council voted on Monday to start over and gather new designs for a new skate park in Malibu.

In a 5-0 vote, the council agreed to reject all design proposals, issue a new request for proposals and include up to three members of the skateboard community to give input on the project.

"I think it is important to keep the community involved," Mayor Laura Zahn Rosenthal said.

By starting over, the council choose to fprgo a $37,200 contract for professional design services from Woomhoudt Inc.

City Councilwoman Joan House said she expects delays on the project and supports taking time to gather more community input.
