MALIBU, CA — A veteran educator who most recently worked in Calabasas has been hired as the new principal of Webster Elementary School.

The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education on Tuesday appointed Carina Diana as the school's next leader; she'll start work on July 1.

“I am excited to support and serve the Webster community, continuing the great work the Webster teachers and staff are already doing,” Diana said. “My goal is to take care of the children, setting them up for all the opportunities they desire to pursue while making learning about excitement and wonder. I can't wait to meet everyone and embark on this incredible journey together.”

She also has served as the summer school principal for the Las Virgenes Unified School District, interim assistant principal at Agoura High School, an instructional coach at Las Virgenes and taught 6th Grade math and integrated science at Gaspar De Portola Charter Middle School in Tarzana.
