Suspect Is in Custody Following Malibu Chase on PCH

The man may have been in a home near Paradise Cove after the CHP pursued him on PCH. Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station officials were not involved in a pursuit, but were asked to assist the CHP in the situation.

3:21 p.m. Update A spokeswoman from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station said a suspect is in custody. She had no further information. She said an ambulance was called to the scene, but that call was canceled. No gunfire was involved in the situation, she said.

2:10 p.m. Update Lt. Jim Royal of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station said the suspect was seen running on the beach just east of Paradise Cove. He may be in a home. Sheriff's Department and CHP officials have set up a containment center, and are looking for the suspect.

The suspect's motorcycle was found abandoned at Paradise Cove.

Royal said Lost Hills was not involved in a pursuit of the motorcyclist at any time. The station was contacted to assist CHP in this incident.

2 p.m. Update  The Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station is not releasing further information. A person answering the phone at the Watch Commander's desk said a call would be returned to Malibu Patch "when things calm down."

1:35 p.m. Update Witnesses say they can hear a loud speaker from the helicopter telling the suspect who is in a home to surrender.

The California Highway Patrol is pursuing a vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, a Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's official told Malibu Patch at 1:15 p.m. on Monday. She said Malibu/Lost Hills has been asked to assist the CHP, but had no further information.

Witness said they saw numerous police vehicles following a yellow motorcycle. A helicopter flying near Paradise Cove could be involved in the incident, a source said.

One witness said his friend told him on the phone that he saw the pursuit at Malibu Canyon Road, and about a minute later, the witness could here the vehicles passing .
