City Council to Hold First Meeting of 2012

The agenda includes development issues, a new motto at City Hall and marking a day for doing good deeds.

The will meet tonight in the Council Chambers at for its first meeting of 2012. The session will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The agenda includes:

  • Updated rules for development on slopes
  • Appeal of the approval of a two-story home on Malibu Road
  • Review of report on , including a proposal to keep the park open until sunset (it currently closes at 7 p.m., which is before sunset part of the year)
  • Proposal by Mayor Laura Zahn Rosenthal to mark Feb. 14 as Pass It Forward Day in honor of , the 13-year-old girl who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway in 2010; according to the agenda, Pass It Forward Day would "encourage the entire Malibu community, especially young people, to go out of their way to do a good deed on that day and post it on the Emily Shane Foundation's website at www.emilyshane.org"
  • New logo for the , which will open in April
