City Seeks Planning Commission Applicants

One seat is available on the commission for a term that expires in April 2014.

The city of Malibu is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the Planning Commission that was created by the recent resignation of Lisa Toledo. She stepped down because she moved out of the city.

Mayor Laura Zahn Rosenthal will make the appointment (each member of the appoints one person to the commission). The person will finish Toledo's term, which expires in April 2014. Rosenthal has the right to fire the appointee at any time and could renew the person's term in 2014 if she is re-elected to the council.

The commission usually meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month at . The five-member panel makes decisions on requests for land use and other types of permits. Its decisions are final unless they are appealed to the City Council or California Coastal Commission.

The Planning Commission also makes recommendations to the City Council on changes to Malibu's zoning rules and other matters.
