Coast Guard Calls off Search for Man
The 66-year-old Pacific Palisades resident may have called the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station complaining of chest pains while he was kayaking off the Malibu coast.

The U.S. Coast Guard has called off the search for a missing Pacific Palisades man, according to a press release issued on Friday.
Louis Robert Piatt went missing Thursday while kayaking near the , according to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station. A 911 call was made to the station in the afternoon from Piatt's phone. The male caller said he had chest pains.
A joint search of the area was conducted by the Coast Guard and the Los Angeles County sheriff's and fire departments. A kayak rented at a local shop by Piatt was found overturned. His parked vehicle was also found. But his whereabouts are unknown.

"The Coast Guard searched 110 square miles for approximately 23 hours using a 45-foot rescue boat crew and the 87-foot patrol boat Halibut," the press release states.
Piatt is described as a 5-foot-9-inch white male weighing 170 pounds. Anybody with information about this case should call 323-890-5500.
