All PCH Lanes Reopened After Collision Caused Closures In Malibu

MALIBU, CA — All lanes on the state Route 1, Pacific Coast Highway were reopened around 9:45 a.m. after a collision shut all lanes for multiple hours, according to the city of Malibu.

All PCH lanes were closed in both directions Monday morning after a vehicle driven by someone suspected of DUI crashed into a parked car, flipped and knocked down a utility pole, authorities said.

The crash occurred just after midnight, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department which did not take any of the people inside the vehicle to hospitals.

PCH was closed in both directions until about 7:15 a.m., at which point one lane was opened in both directions from Rambla Pacifico Street to Rambla Vista. There was still traffic on PCH in the area later Monday morning.

Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District buses were rerouted Monday morning and ran late to school, according to the district. Malibu High School and Middle School students arrived on campus just after 9 a.m. with Webster Elementary about 15 minutes behind.

There were no reported power outages on Southern California Edison's website as of 9:35 a.m. Monday.
