First up: our season opener honoring Carl Reiner will be hosted by none other than Dick Van Dyke! Many of you already know that we’ve moved the date to Sunday, Oct.12 – but at the request of our honored guest, the schedule for the evening will now be as follows:
- Doors open at 6 (no early arrivals, please!!!)
- The program will start promptly at 6:30 with welcoming remarks by Dick Van Dyke, who will then introduce Carl Reiner. After Carl’s talk, he’ll be signing copies of his new book (“I Just Remembered”) during our cocktail reception. A portion of the proceeds from book sales benefit MFS.
- Around 8, we’ll then show “The Comic” – the first movie ever written, produced and directed by Carl Reiner, starring Dick Van Dyke along with Michelle Lee and Mickey Rooney.
For those who’d like to have Carl sign their book, please order your copy in advance at www.malibufilmsociety.org. This will ensure that we’ll have enough copies for everyone and that we won’t run out during the event.
