The Los Angeles County Board of Education holds a public hearing on the petition to convert Point Dume Marine Science Elementary School into a charter school.
The seven-member board is only taking public comment on the petition. The board will vote at a second session that will take place next month. If the board rejects the petition, the decision can be appealed to the state.
