MALIBU, CA — The State Route 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) will be partially closed Wednesday and Thursday as part of a massive retaining wall project.

PCH will be reduced to one lane with alternating traffic from Deer Creek Road to Sycamore Canyon Road. The closure will last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both days. Bicyclists are advised to avoid the area as construction will block the bicycle lanes on PCH.

The closure is part of a $51 million California Department of Transportation project to restore eroded barriers on PCH between the road and the ocean. The erosion has caused cracks on the roadway shoulder, according to CalTrans.
