Final Lagoon Dewatering Plan Submitted to Coastal Commission

The submittal of documents detailing the current conditions at the Malibu Lagoon was a condition of an already approved permit, according to California State Parks.

The final drainage plan for the Malibu Lagoon project has been submitted to the California Coastal Commission, a State Parks official confirmed Tuesday.

"We're ready to move to the next step," said Tom Dore, a public information officer for California State Parks.

Under a permit already approved by the Coastal Commission, the contractor, Ford E.C., Inc. was required to submit the current conditions at the site. By submitting the dewatering plan, the contractor met the conditions of the permit, according to Dore.

A new permit is not required, Dore said, adding that everything is moving forward on schedule.
