Hello From Your Malibu Patch Editor

For those of you who haven't had the chance to meet me, my name is Jessica Davis and I will be serving the community in Malibu as the new Patch editor.

Jumping right in with coverage of the City Council election, I got a running start in Malibu last week. As some residents put it, I was "thrown into the fire."

To be honest, I wouldn't have had it any other way. I love a challenge and I'm already feeling part of this community, so thank you for the warm welcome so far.

I'm honored to take over from Jonathan Friedman, who I have had the priveledge to get to know over the past few months during this transition. Thanks to interim Editor Brantley Watson for all his hard work while I wrapped things up in Palm Desert, where I was the Patch editor.

A few things to know about me: I take my job of being a journalist very seriously. I am honored to have the trust of this community to report on the news, and I am committed to being fair, accurate and open to all perspectives.

I also enjoy good conversation. So far, I can see that Malibu residents like to talk about what is happening on Malibu Patch. That's great and I hope it continues, just please make sure to keep the conversation civil. Honest, civil discourse can cause positive change in a community. It is my hope that Malibu Patch serves that purpose.

A conversation goes two ways and I am available through e-mail at jessica.davis@patch.com if you have questions, news tips or concerns. I'm happy to meet in person if any of you would ever like to get a cup of tea or coffee. Just drop me a line.

I'm often working on my laptop in Starbucks around town, so feel free to say hi if you see me. I'll do the same.
