IMPROVISATION AND THEATRE GAMES

Bravery in commitment and ability to listen and respond to a partner, including the audience, are basic performing skills necessary to any training for the stage. Primarily using the techniques of Viola Spolin, this course aims to strengthen the performer’s ability to explore character, scene and situation in an atmosphere of play while developing strong listening and partnering skills. Each week students will learn and play a variety of movement, theater, and vocal “games” that develop their ability and confidence in listening to their impulses, their partners, and the group.

The class will culminate in a long-form improvisation, allowing dedicated practice to the range of skills developed during the course.

This class is taught by Alexis Macnab and meets for six 3-hour classes on

Tuesday nights, 7pm-10pm.

Class meeting dates: 10/14 – 10/21 – 10/28 – 11/4 – 11/11 – 11/18
