Longtime Local Celebrates 90th Birthday

Andy Pierson has lived in Malibu since 1947.

Malibu resident Andy Pierson got a special surprise last month when his friends and family threw a party for him to celebrate Pierson's 90th birthday. The party took place on Carbon Mesa, at the home of his daughter Lynn Dornhelm and her husband Robert.

Pierson moved to Malibu in 1947. Before selling his Malibu Colony home earlier this year, he was the longest-living resident in the neighborhood. He currently lives on Malibu Road in a home he has owned since 1965.

Pierson's son Mark, wrote in an email to Malibu Patch about his father, who is a World War II veteran, "Andy has been a fixture of Malibu life for decades. For years, people would see him do his daily six-mile jog on Malibu Colony Beach to the end of Carbon Beach. Now, Malibu Road residents see him do his twice daily walk along the entire road and back."
