MALIBU, CA — Malibu's Community Service Department is offering free Resiliency Program workshops meant to promote healing in the community through art, music, yoga, meditation, environmental and cultural education and more.

Radical Beauty, Malibu Rising Art Exhibition Opening Reception

The City of Malibu: "As part of the Resiliency Programs, the Cultural Arts Commission will curate the second art installation of “Radical Beauty, Malibu Rising,” a collaborative art exhibition featuring original works by local residents that reflect on the Woolsey Fire with an opening reception."

Chumash Ethnobotany with the Chumash Museum

The City of Malibu: "The ancient native Chumash in the Malibu area used and cultivated plants native to Southern California for many uses, including food, housing, tools, medicine and basketry. This workshop is an introduction to native plants and their importantance to the Chumash people."

Introduction to Amateur Radio with Quality Matrix International, Inc.
The City of Malibu: "Amateur radio (ham radio) is a popular hobby and service that brings people, electronics and communication together, without the need for Internet or cell phones. It's fun, social, educational, and can be a lifeline during times of need. During this two-hour workshop, students will learn how a ham radio can be used during an emergency and how to acquire an amateur radio license."
- When: Saturday, October 12 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Astronomy Night with L.A. Astronomical Society, Inc.
The City of Malibu: "View the night sky with both amateur and professional astronomers from the Los Angeles Astronomical Society. No need to bring your own telescope. This is a family friendly event and includes the shared use of a telescope complete guided by a knowledgeable astronomer and a giveaway. A coffee vendor will be on site with coffee, tea and hot cocoa for purchase."
