Local Opposition to Mobile Home Bill Reaches Sacramento

The leadership of the Malibu Association of Realtors traveled to Sacramento last week to speak on behalf of Malibu residents.

Directors from the Malibu Association of REALTORS met with legislative officials this month to go over local concerns about an assembly bill that could impact rent control in mobile home parks.

Bobby Lehmkuhl, Matt Ogden, Dan Ross and Susan Manners met with Assembly Majority Leader Charles M. Calderon's Legislative Assistant in Sacramento last week, according to a statement released by the association.

AB 317 has by the Malibu City Council because of its possible impact on property owners who own multiple homes. Several Malibu homeowners associations have also against the bill.

"Calderon's legislative assistant stated there have already been some draft changes to the bill and they would take into consideration additional amendments suggested by the Malibu Association of REALTORS," the statement read.

The Malibu Association of Realtors plans to review the changes and continue to lobby on behalf of Malibu residents who could be impacted by this bill.

The group also met with state Assemblymember Julia Brownley and state Sen. Fran Pavley to ask for their support of Assembly Bill 1745, which is sponsored by the California Association of REALTORS.

AB 1745 would prevent banks from foreclosing on a property after approving a short sale.
