Malibu Earns Award for Transparency, Excellence In Financial Reporting
The city was recognized for its fiscal year 2015-2016 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
MALIBU, CA — For the 16th time, the city of Malibu was recognized for its transparency in reporting its finances from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

“The public’s trust is not something you’re given, it is something you must earn, and this award demonstrates Malibu’s commitment to transparency and responsible management of public funds,” Mayor Skylar Peak said. “I commend our City Manager Reva Feldman for her years of diligent work leading the City’s outstanding budget and finance management and our Assistant City Manager Lisa Soghor who has taken up that role.”

The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals, and the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
The GFOA award is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a “spirit of full disclosure” in clearly communicating its financial story to encourage people to read the CAFR.
