Malibu To Host Dedication Ceremony For New Sculpture
The sculpture was donated to the City by Malibu resident Dan Sandel in 2017.

MALIBU, CA — The Malibu City Council is hosting a public ceremony to dedicate the City’s newest public art piece, "Anchor for Malibu,"on Thursday, July 25, at 10 a.m. at Legacy Park.
The sculpture was donated to the City by Malibu resident Dan Sandel in 2017.
"It was created in 2004 by Israeli sculptor Emanuel Hatzofe at his studio in the Jaffa port neighborhood of Tel Aviv, Israel," the City of Malibu said. "Sandel visited Hatzofe’s studio in 2005 and purchased the sculpture for his home in Malibu. The six-foot, five inch-tall sculpture weighs 3,300 lbs."

Malibu Poet Laureate Ellen Reich will read a poem she composed at the ceremony; after the sculpture is unveiled, guests can stay and enjoy light refreshments.
