With a $6 million renovation complete, Malibu residents will have a chance to see the new Malibu Library during an Earth Day Festival this Sunday.

The renovation makes the library LEED-certified, which means the public building will save water and energy.

The grand opening will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 22 and will feature live music, local authors, children’s activities and interactive exhibits, according to city spokeswoman Olivia Damavandi.

One of the exhibits will feature typewriters previously owned by Ernest Hemmingway, George Bernard Shaw and Andy Rooney, among others, Damavandi said.

Guests will have the opportunity to use the typewriters by making donations that will benefit Malibu High School and the Emily Shane Foundation, a local nonprofit.
