Malibu Mayor's Son Helps Capture University of Oregon Burglar
Joe Rosenthal, son of Laura Zahn Rosenthal, spotted the man and called police, who captured the suspect as he was leaving a porta potty.
It looks like public service runs in the family.
Joe Rosenthal, the son of Malibu Mayor Laura Zahn Rosenthal, helped capture a burglar who was preying on the homes of students at the University of Oregon earlier this week.
"When he called to tell me what happened, I was so proud of his quick thinking and natural responses. It is so easy in life to just be a bystander. It takes courage to stand up and take action and I am so thankful that he did just that," the mayor said.

Joe Rosenthal, who is a student at the University of Oregon, called police when he recognized the man, later identified as Shawn Philbrick.
"He was looking in a window I guess and just trying to break in. He went to the bathroom in a porta potty right outside. They caught him as he was getting out and arrested him," he told KEZI Channel 9 news.
