Malibu Preservationists, Commercial Landlords to Meet

The topic of the city-hosted meeting will be local business preservation.

Malibu city staff will host a meeting of a stakeholders group, which will include representatives of the Preserve Malibu Group and local shopping center owners, according to a staff report for Monday's  meeting.

The topic of the stakeholders session will be local business preservation and any laws the council may consider regarding this effort. This is also a topic on the council meeting's agenda.

The date for the stakeholders meeting was not included in the staff report. Each side will be able to select five people to attend, and the session will be "informal" and not open to the public, according to the report.

"Objectives of the meeting will [be to] attempt to reach a consensus between the varying interests, allow an informal platform to openly share with one another, and consider possible outcomes for future consideration by the City Council," the staff report states.

City staff will provide a "summary of the dialogue received" from the stakeholders session at a council meeting. It is not clear if that will be the council meeting on Monday or a later session.

"The community seminar would cover a wide range of opportunities to enhance local community-serving businesses in Malibu," the staff report states. "Following, it could be determined by the group involved if there is any direction to be taken. The city has invited the  to be an integral part of the workshop."
