Malibu to Honor Principal Mark Kelly

After eight years at Malibu High School, Kelly is leaving for a position in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District.

The Malibu City Council will honor Malibu High School Principal Mark Kelly for his years of service next week at its regular meeting.

The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m., Monday, June 25 at .

Kelly, who served as princpal of for eight years, was appointed earlier this month as the new Director of Student Services for the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District.

Kelly's new position goes into effect on July 1.

Kelly was well known on campus for promoting the development of student leadership through student organizations.

Before coming to Malibu High School, Kelly served as the assistant principal at Santa Monica High School. He also taught educational leadership workshops at UCLA and Cal State Northridge, facilitated curriculum workshops at the Los Angeles Systemic Initiative.

He also taught math at North Hollywood High School, Richard E. Byrd Junior High School and Francisco Sepulveda Junior High School.
