Workshop to Focus on Ocean Friendly Gardening
Attendees will learn the benefit of using native plants and water-efficient irrigation devices to reduce water run-off pollution to the Pacific Ocean.

The city of Malibu and the West Basin Municipal Water District have partnered to teach ocean-friendly gardening and landscaping techniques to the public.
The free workshop is set from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 30 at the Michael Landon Center at Malibu Bluffs Park, 24250 Pacific Coast Highway, according to Rebecca Nelson, the city's senior office assistant.
The workshop will teach attendees how to develop an ocean friendly garden using native plants, water-efficient irrigation devices (such as "smart" sprinkler controllers and drip irrigation), permeable materials and onsite water retention techniques to reduce water run-off pollution to the ocean, Nelson said.
