New Coordinator Hired to Lead Malibu Senior Center Programs and Activities
The Senior Center offers programs for seniors and active adults in the City's 1,200-square foot facility at City Hall.

MALIBU, CA – The Malibu City Council has hired Paige Gomez as the new Senior Recreation Coordinator at the Malibu Senior Center, where she oversees the Center’s programs, events and staff.
“The Senior Center has become a vibrant, valuable community hub for older Malibu residents, offering a wide variety of artistic, social, educational and cultural activities that stimulate the mind and body and offer seniors ways to stay actively involved in the community,” Mayor Lou La Monte said. “We welcome Paige and look forward to working with her on even more excellent Senior Center programs.”
Gomez was introduced to the community during the Senior Center’s 14th Anniversary Mardi Gras Celebration, Thursday, April 20 at Malibu City Hall. The free festivities included live music by The Riff Tides, dancing, food and a free raffle with prizes. Participants were encouraged to dress up, and masquerade masks and beads were provided.

Gomez joins the city of Malibu after serving the past seven years in various community related roles. Gomez has spent the past four years working with the Los Angeles Lakers as their Broadcast Partnerships Manager. During that time, Gomez supervised fan outreach through a variety of special events and fostered several community and corporate partnerships.
Prior to her time with the Lakers, Gomez spent two years working for the YMCA - West San Gabriel where she led programming and special events for adults and youth participants.

Born and raised in Southern California, Gomez graduated from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. She brings a wealth of experience working with people of all ages and backgrounds.
The Senior Center offers programs for seniors and active adults in the City’s 1,200-square foot facility at City Hall. The Center offers a wide variety of recreational, fitness, cultural, and educational programming, social events, and excursions to give seniors and adults opportunities to maintain and improve physical and mental well-being, life skills, and active social lives.
Courses and lectures offered in partnership with outside agencies include AARP driver safety, health screenings, smart money planning, downsizing your house, computer skills, and Alzheimer’s awareness. The Emeritus College uses the Senior Center to provide enrichment classes, including modern poetry, autobiography, and art appreciation.
The Malibu Senior Center is open Monday through Friday for social interaction and use of library materials, DVDs, and computers with internet service and free Wi-Fi.
