"I would like to make a pledge to all of you tonight to be your voice and to put the interest of Malibu first. This evening marks a new step in the right direction for our community. I really want to bring you together," Peak said.
John Sibert thanked his supporters for being elected for his second term. Sibert was the only incumbent to run.
"It's time to pull together and take care of the myriad of issues this city faces," Sibert said, pointing to public safety, sewers and water issues.
Joan House said she was honored to be elected again.
"It was my privilege and honor to serve on the council of our then young city 20 years ago, and it is my honor to again take this seat," House said.
She added that she hopes to honor the General Plan and Vision statement that the 1992-1996 council put together.
"I look forward to the privilege of working with community members, council, and staff to achieve our goals, which have not really changed since we incorporated," House said. "We still care about the natural and cultural resources, the environment, and limiting commercial development in lawful ways."
House said she hopes to ask fellow council members to put a bond measure on the ballot to see if the community will support "retiring commercially zoned property."
"I also wish to explore the possibility of our City establishing a program where community members can donate money to purchase commercial property as a charitable contribution," she said.
