Pacific Coast Highway Fully Reopens 2 Months After Mudslide

After two months of lane closures on PCH in Malibu, the highway has fully reopened.

A newly installed K-rail on Pacific Coast Highway will help retain slide material during future storms, Caltrans said.

MALIBU, CA — All lanes of Pacific Coast Highway reopened this week after being closed two months ago due to landslides, officials said.

A mudslide on Feb. 21 shut down Pacific Coast Highway between Puerco and Corral canyons. The road soon reopened, but with some lane closures as crews worked to install a K-rail on the shoulder in order to help retain sliding material during future storms, according to Caltrans.

Caltrans on Saturday announced that both northbound lanes just north of Corral Canyon Road will now remain open 24/7 following the completion of the K-rail installation.
