Political Theater? AMC’s Having Election Watch Parties in California

AMC Theatres is teaming with CNN to broadcast the network's election night coverage to select theaters, and it's free for AMC Stubs members.

The antics of this year's election season resemble the plot of a bad tragicomedy? Why not end the season in a movie theater with a tub of popcorn? AMC Theatres is teaming with CNN to broadcast the network's election night coverage to select theaters, and it's free for AMC Stubs members.

At three major media markets in California -- San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles -- AMC Stubs members and two guests can view election night results with like-minded partiers. Guests can RSVP between AMC locations designated as "Red" or "Blue." Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, with the event officially beginning at 4 p.m., when the first polls close.

The locations can be found here:

“The 2016 Presidential race has generated record-setting viewing on television and online, and we’re excited to have CNN bring the culmination of the race to the big screen,” said Elizabeth Frank, Executive Vice President and Chief Content & Programming Officer, AMC Theatres. “On election night, as Americans gather in their communities to watch the conclusion of this historic election, we recognize that Democrats want to cheer with fellow Democrats, and Republicans cheer with fellow Republicans, so we’ve designated 'Blue' and 'Red' theaters in each participating market.”

AMC Stubs is the movie-theater chain's loyalty program. It's free to join but costs $15 a year for premium status.
