One Injured in Crash at Paradise Cove

Malibu residents have been speaking out against heavy weekend traffic at Paradise Cove Road and Pacific Coast Highway for more than a month.

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday in a crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, a sheriff's lieutenant said.

The crash was reported at 12:45 p.m. Sunday on westbound Pacific Coast Highway about 300 feet from Paradise Cove Road, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported.

A motorist was merging from the left lane to the right and struck the motorcyclist, who suffered a compound fracture to his left leg, Lt. Jim Royal of the Lost Hills/Malibu Sheriff's Station said.

A Los Angeles County rescue helicopter flew the motorcylist to UCLA Medical Center, Royal said.

Malibu residents have been caused by weekend visitors at Paradise Cove for the last month.

According to Royal, the management at Paradise Cove has hired a deputy to direct traffic from the full parking lot for the past two weekends from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
