Sibert Submits Council Nomination Papers

He is seeking a second term on the City Council.

on Wednesday became the first incumbent and second person overall to submit election nomination papers to the . The office will verify whether at least 20 signatures on his nomination packet are from registered Malibu voters, which is a requirement to become an official candidate.

Also on Wednesday, Bobby Heyward pulled papers for a potential run. He is a political unknown and contact information for him will not be available from the city until later today.

The other incumbent eligible to run is . He has until Friday to return his nomination papers. He has said he intends to be in the race.

—a third-generation Malibu resident, Realtor, surfer and anti-Malibu Lagoon project activist—is the lone official candidate. Last week, he submitted his nomination papers and had the signatures verified.

The others who pulled papers are former Council members  and , Commissioner , local YouTube star "Malibu" Hamish "The Illusion" Patterson and entrepreneur Jack Utter. Since they are not incumbents, they have a Jan. 18 deadline to enter the race officially.

The top three vote-getters win seats on the council. Election Day is April 10. The last day to register to vote is March 26.
