Woman Arrested After Hours-Long Standoff In Malibu: Deputies

A woman was arrested Tuesday after barricading herself in a standoff that lasted much of the day, according to deputies.

MALIBU, CA — A woman was arrested Tuesday after barricading herself in a standoff that lasted much of the day, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies were sent to the 28300 block of Rey De Copas Lane, north of Point Dume, Tuesday at around 8:15 a.m., deputies said.

Special Enforcement Bureau personnel were sent to the scene, along with a Crisis Negotiation Team, deputies said.

By 3:30 p.m., the woman surrendered, deputies said.

"The suspect surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident," the Sheriff's Department said in a statement. "The area was deemed safe and all neighborhood evacuees were allowed to return to their homes."

It's unclear why the standoff began in the first place.
