Strong Winds Return to Malibu

Red Flag and High Wind warnings are in effect from early Monday morning to Tuesday. Cold weather is expected for the entire week.

High-speed winds are expected to return late Sunday night/early Monday morning, and remain until Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Red Flag and High Wind Warnings will go into effect Monday at 3 a.m.

Gusts could reach at least 45 mph on Monday throughout Malibu, with "damaging levels" possible in the mountain areas, according to the NWS. The situation is expected to calm as Monday progresses, but the wind speeds should increase again late at night and into Tuesday. The Red Flag and High Wind warnings are expected to expire Tuesday at 4 p.m.

"Winds may knock down trees and power lines and cause unsecured objects to be blown around," the NWS' website states.
